“All In”: Lessons from China’s Standardization Strategy and the Call for a Unified European Vision

At this year’s EaS Conference organized by the DIN – Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V., Lüdtke Intelligence & Analytics (LIA) was honored to participate both as presenter and panelist. The event, masterfully led by Amelie Leipprand and Bora Bülbül, brought together experts and thought leaders to discuss the future of standardization and innovation across Europe.

China’s “All In” Strategy: Commitment Beyond Risk

In my presentation, I explored China’s “All In” standardization strategy. But what does “All In” truly mean? It is not about recklessness or blind risk-taking. Rather, it represents a clear, unwavering commitment — to doing everything necessary for success. It means embracing pluralism, engaging across multiple channels, and leaving no opportunity unused. This holistic approach to standardization has helped China advance its influence, align its industries, and position itself strategically in global markets.

Europe’s Unique Path: Learning Without Imitating

While there is much to learn from China and other nations, Europe must not simply imitate. Our journey is distinct.
Europe must chart its own course — one defined not by imitation, but by conviction and vision.

Our strength lies in unity: a Europe guided by clear purpose, using standardization as a strategic tool to set benchmarks, ensure interoperability, and drive competitiveness. Competition among European SDOs (Standards Development Organizations) should exist only where it is necessary. The real power of Europe will emerge from solidarity and shared direction.

A Timely Reminder: Unity and Freedom

It is fitting that these reflections coincide with the Day of German Unity. This day reminds me personally of my own roots in the former GDR. Nobody wishes to return to such a system — just as nobody seeks to emulate the Chinese model.

Our collective goal must be a Europe that is strong, independent, and free. That is the true meaning of being “All In” — not just for one nation, but for our shared European future.

💬 And if you want to know how LIA can help to achieve this collective goal — just ask me.
